Hello Parents!
Thanks to everyone who participated in Reading Week two weeks ago. It was a great hit and a lot of that was due to your support at home. We had a lot of fun, but are ready to get back to the hard work we need to do in order to get ready for grade one next fall.
Report Card Envelopes
If you still have your envelope from your child’s report card, please make sure to sign and date it and return it in your child’s blue folder as soon as possible. Thanks!
Also, please return the back page of the student handbook as soon as possible. You only need to send one (even if you have multiple children at ICA, just write all names on one sheet and give it to the teacher of your youngest student.
Phonics
You will be getting the phonics packet today along with this newsletter. Please take a look and see what the spelling words are so you can practice with your child as often as possible.
There is a video up on the KG2 website as well as up-to-date flashcards for sight words and vocabulary for the quarter so far. Please stop by and take a look when you get the chance.
Also, make sure you are checking your child’s edline account as often as possible. We post all newsletters there as well as other important information.

Hello Parents!
We hope you are making good use of the phonics packet we sent home last week. Please remember that we will be using this set for the entire quarter, so don’t do all of the worksheets at once. They are just something to help you practice with your child. Remember that there is a phonics video to practice along with on the phonics page.
Arrival
Please remember that school starts promptly at 7:15 am. Bring your child a little bit early so they are ready to start on time. When a student is late, they miss some of the most important information and instructional time of the day.
Dismissal
The front gates will not open until exactly 2:15 pm, but please make sure you are on time to get your child.
Eid Vacation
In two weeks, we will have a weeklong vacation for Eid. It will be from October 13th – 17th. Enjoy your holiday with your family and may you have safe travels. We will see you back after break on Sunday, October 20th at 7:15 am as usual.
Theme
Our current theme is “Families”
Who is in your family? Talk with your child about their family – mother, father, sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts, and grandparents.

Hello Parents!
Thank you for coming to Open House last week. We really enjoyed having you there and getting the chance to show you a little bit about what and how we will be teaching this year.
Lunch
Make sure that you pack enough healthy food for your child to eat during snack AND lunch. We have been seeing some fantastic lunches this year, so thank you for taking the time to keep your child healthy. Please remember, however, that candy, cookies, cake, and chocolate are NOT allowed at school. These things have too much sugar in them and make it difficult for the children to concentrate on their work.

Our current theme is “All About Me”
Talk with your child about themselves – things they like, people in their family, their age, hair and eye color, etc.

Language Arts
We will learn about to make predictions (or smart guesses) about what will happen next in a story based on what has already happened.
We will also learn the difference between a sentence and a word.
