Hello Parents!
The National Day Committee at school has decided on doing an assembly for just the students (sorry, no parents this year) next Thursday. Our class and three others have to perform an English song while the other four KG2 classes will perform an Arabic song put together by the Arabic teachers.
Below is a link to the song Ms. Alia and I wrote for our classes to perform. It is to the tune of “Waka, Waka” by Shakira, so I am trying to break the kids of the habit of signing the lyrics they know so well. Lol. If you could practice with them, it would be fantastic. The lyrics repeat over one time, so it shouldn’t take too long to learn. Inshallah.
Here is the link to the audio with lyrics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt3mUb9MRRE
Here are just the lyrics by themselves if that is easier to practice (the song goes pretty quickly).
You’re a good student
Learning your letters
Pick up your bag
Come into class
Get ready and settled
It’s National Week
At ICA
We’re holding the flag
And standing up straight
We love Kuwait
Red, white, green,
And black
The colors of
Kuwait’s flag
We love all of our sheikhs
Baba Jaber and Sabah
Ana Kuwaiti A heb Il Kuwait
It’s time to celebrate
Ana Kuwaiti eh, eh
Yalla, yalla, hey, hey
Ana Kuwaiti A heb Il Kuwait
It’s time to celebrate
I know that it is a bummer that you don’t get to see the kids perform, so Ms. Alia and I will upload the video to YouTube as quickly as we can on Thursday.
Also, on Thursday, please send your child to school with a small, handheld Kuwaiti flag and let them dress up in fun Kuwaiti flag colors or a nice dishdasha or Kuwait flag colored dara’a or really anything that makes them happy. It will be a fun day.
When they come in the morning, they can also bring their favorite Kuwaiti dish to share with the class for snack/lunch.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
As always, thanks so much for all your help. 🙂
~Ms. Maggie
